Hand block printing has a 400 year old legacy. It is indigenous to the Chhipas community in Rajasthan, whose descendants are now settled around Sanganer and Bagru, the two major block printing manufacturing hubs in Rajasthan.
The craft flourished under the Mughal patronage, which introduced detailed floral motifs, fine lines, and royal intricacies to its patterns. Over time, these influences blended with local Rajasthani styles to create a distinct visual language.
